I like Sunday mornings

I like Sunday mornings. Peaceful. Restful. Regenerative. Redeeming.

Ever since I gave up trying to earn points with God and man for this or that good action, like always making it to Sunday School or whatever, I have come to enjoy the slowness and the quiet of these mornings.

We modern evangelicals tend to think of Sunday as the “Sabbath” but tear the idea to shreds by filling it up with performance obligations and high expectations.

One day, I’m sure, true obligations and biblical expectations will cause my Sunday mornings to become more hectic and less relaxed than today.

And that’s ok.

For now I’ll take this moments, these times of true Sabbath and hold them close.

And pray I don’t forget God’s true intent and desire for us to rest in Him.
